Sam Tomkins wins Man-of-the-Match in Wales showdown - Rugby League

England's leading try scorer, Sam Tomkins, stole the limelight in Saturday night’s showdown against Wales in which the squad clinched a 42-4 win over the Welsh side at Leigh Sports Village. After the match, the prop was awarded the Man-of-the-Match award
for his four tries scored, which is in line with his previous try scoring records.
The English side won pretty easily over the Welsh side, who were already tagged as the underdogs of the clash. This win by England is not considered a very big achievement and their recent win does not imply that they will surely win against Australia which
has been lined up over the next weekend.
Steve McNamara, the coach of the English side, is not happy with his side’s performance, even though they emerged victorious. However, the coach reckons that there were quite a few loop holes in his side’s overall performance, which will be worked on rigorously.
This will allow them to battle against the much stronger Kangaroos on Saturday.
England had taken the lead since the beginning of the clash, with the first try from their side opened within the very first minute of the clash. They had continued to stretch their lead until the end of the first half, which had left the scores 14-0.
The first half of the game was all England in which the Welsh side completely failed to score at all. The scores remained unanswered throughout the initial half of the game.
As Tomkins opened up English side’s scores, the Welsh side’s scores were opened by Kirk Yeaman. This delayed scoring did not help the Welsh side move up the score ladder. There was an obvious change observed by the Welsh side, as they tightened up their
defence which was not up to the mark during the initial stint of the clash.
This change by the Welsh side did not hold for too long as Gareth Ellis broke through their  wall of defence which ended up in Tomkins’ hat-trick of the match during the 49th minute of the clash.
Wales were not only unlucky in bagging respectable scores but also they also lost their veteran, Jordan James, because of the severe head blow after the first tackle of the match.
