I have a Samsung SCL810 8mm digital camcorder. It has an SVIDEO and an AV Out port (correct term?). How can I record on this, and then get the video from the tape to the computer?

  1. The SCL810 is a Hi8 camcorder - it's analog, not digital.  You can capture your video with a TV capture card but the quality is likely to be very poor.  You'll get better results with a dedicated analog to digital converter such as the Pinnacle Dazzle or the Kworld DVD Maker USB.  If you're planning to do this a lot and want the best quality have a look at the Canopus ADVC range.

  2. You need a capture/video card that has an s-video or a/v inputs.
