Samantha Stosur outfoxes Shuai Peng in round one - Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2012
World number five, Samantha Stosur, outfoxed the 25th ranked Chinese, Shuai Peng, in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to ease into the next round Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.
It was her fourth remarkable head-to-head victory over the 26-year-old Chinese starlet. She has regained her formed, lately, especially after her nation’s majestic triumph in the Federation Cup tie against German squad.
Peng hasn’t been able to power down the Aussie starlet even once in her professional career. The psychological factor played its part and the Chinese superstar was hunted down to a 0-3 trail at the start.  Losing first serve game
is extremely lethal especially when the opponent is in sublime run of form.
Stosur didn’t allot any opportunity to her competitor to break serve except the first tight serve hold. She bagged another breakthrough in the eighth game of the set to register a resounding triumph in the first half. It was a
stunning start for the Aussie player who has been under a lot of pressure in the recent times. She has been a victim of critics for her dismal performance throughout the season.
However, this performance will definitely help her to boost morale and more importantly prove it to the world that she has still got the power to dominate the proceedings at the age of 28. The second set started well for her. She
clinched the tight serve hold and took a lead in the fourth game through breakpoint. She registered a resounding 5-1 lead courtesy to another breakthrough and sent a message to her potential opponent that she is out there to rule and meant business.
The match was finished under an hour time that portrays the level of domination from Stosur. In a post-match interview, she mentioned, "I was ready to go. I guess it's kind of handy to have been here for a week already, whereas
all the other girls arrived late yesterday. Sometimes the best preparation doesn't always equal the best results, but it doesn't hurt to play Fed Cup matches at the same place as the next event you play. It was nice to play as well as I did and get through
in straight sets today. We drive around in nice Porsches and eat great food.
She will lock horns with the German tennis icon, Julia Goerges, in the second round. It is an opportunity for the German to have the revenge for her nation on Wednesday. It will diminish the overall grievance amongst the fans at
least.
