Samantha Stosur to feature in the Brisbane International 2013 – Tennis News
World number nine, Samantha Stosur, was added to the emphatic line-up of the Brisbane International that will kick-off in January 2013. She will join the likes of the former world number one, Serena Williams, and the Career Grand
Slam holder, Maria Sharapova, in a 32-women draw. Queensland is the hometown of Stosur and there was doubt at all that she will join the elite squad of Brisbane for 2013 campaign.
While conducting a press conference in which Stosur unleashed the contract signing with the tournament officials of the Brisbane International, she said, "It’s always fun to play at home. You don’t get many opportunities to play
in your home country and the state that you’ve grown up in. I have had a couple of good wins at the Brisbane International, I would like more, so hopefully that will change in 2013."
She further added, "It is a good week and a great atmosphere playing at Pat Rafter Arena, the bigger the tournament has got the bigger the names that want to come out and play.  What better preparation than playing the best players
in the world straight up." Ms Stuckey said, "To have two of Australia’s tennis heroes compete at the Brisbane International is great news."
The 28-year-old Aussie who registered a breakthrough season in 2011 is still looking to add another Grand Slam title to her tally after conquering the US Open campaign in New York, a year ago. It was a scintillating moment for
the Aussie starlet who is still going strong and not giving up despite the aging factor limiting her shot selection and stamina.
She has worked hard at the training grounds to stay fit and competitive; retained her spot in the Top-10 category without winning a single title in 2012 which shows her consistency of play throughout the season. She reached two
Women Tennis Association finals this season; reaching the last stage of the Qatar Ladies Open in Doha where she was hammered away by the reigning world number one, Victoria Azarenka. Former world number one, Caroline Wozniacki, ended her run in the Kremlin
Cup final where she was the top seeded player.
