Earlier this week, Nancy Lorraine president Jacques Rousselot admitted to RMC that Olympique Lyonnais have returned to their interest in Samba Diakite.
“We had a discussion a week ago with Jean-Michel Aulas. He spoke about Samba without any concrete proposal.” The 22-year-old youngster has been under the radar of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 for quite some time. Last summer, Remi Garde did try bringing the midfielder
to the Stade de Gerland after failing to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 youngster N’Dinga.
Things might work out this time for the Rhone giants as the Malian is determined to force a move to the seven-time Ligue 1 champions.
“We talk about Lyon anyway. This is nothing. It is a great club. I could not go there in August, but hopefully I’ll be there this winter,” the youngster was quoted saying while talking to the Easter Republican.
Currently the youngster is set to depart for the upcoming African Cup of Nations where he will be representing Mali.
However, Diakite said that he is willing to miss CAN if he gets a chance to sign for Lyon.
“When I was a kid, my two dreams were to become pro and defend the colours of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mali-c2951, the country of my family. But if I have to ignore CAN to be able to sign for Lyon, I am ready to do it,” the youngster said thus confirming that he is desperate to join Lyon
in the current transfer window and would also consider missing out on the African Cup of Nations for the sake of securing a move to Remi Garde’s side.
The youngster’s ‘come get me’ plea has certainly given Les Gones a fresh impetuous. A fee in the region of 5 million Euros is considered to be enough for securing the midfielder’s services.
However, English Premier League side Newcastle Untied are also keen on signing the youngster which means that Lyon will have to step up their efforts but could find signing Diakite an easy task as the youngster also wants to play for Lyon in the future.
