Same plugs in india?

I'm taking my Ipod + charger (which is plugged into a socket and then charged) to India. I'm in America. My question is, will the same charger work in the plugs there or will there be a different kind I'll have to buy?

  1. While the line voltage in USA is 110 Volts, the same in India is 230/240 Volts.   Hence you should take a plug suitable for use on 220/240 volts.

  2. I live in the USA and I just came back from a trip to India (my first time).

My friend took her converter and I plugged in a battery charger and the electricity in the room went out, we had to call the lobby for help.  Later on we found that we could use some things without a converter: the battery charger for the camera, charge our ipods, our cell phones, and use the flat iron for our hair.  We just needed a three-prong adapter or even a two-round-prong adapter.

It's a good idea to ask the hotel, tell them you need help regarding the electricity - one of the hotel guys showed us what to do if we had a two-prong adapter but the plug was three-prong - they have seen that kind of problem before.

If you any more questions about India send me a message (I went to Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Goa)

    Good luck and enjoy India!

  3. the ipod charger will need a pin converter since the shape of the outlets are different. The ipod charger will be able to take the 220 voltage so you won't need a voltage converter. you can buy it at almost any electrical store near you like radio shack or something.

  4. you'll need a universal adapter for india. you can get one at radioshack.

  5. get a universal charger

  6. didn't you see Darjeeling Limited?

owen wilson's character spent half the movie looking for a power adapter.
