Sami Salo returns to perform defensive duties for the Vancouver Canucks: NHL News
The top seed in the Western Conference and the favourites to win the Stanley Cup this time, the Vancouver Canucks welcomed their premier defenseman, Sami Solo. Sami Solo was back in action this Thursday in Game 4 against the Nashville Predators.
Solo is among the best defensemen around and with his talent he has certainly made a strong position for himself in the team. Solo missed the play-off games since the sixth game against the Hawks where he went out due to undisclosed injury problems.
Solo’s returning game raised a question mark over the two players who took his place while he was out. Keith Ballard and Andrew Albert both underperformed in Game 3.
When Solo was asked about how he felt, he had this to say, "I'm feeling pretty good. It's nice weather outside."
Alain Vigneault, said that their defence was pretty good at the moment as he has eight defensemen currently. Out of those eight players, six are healthy and among the best if they are able to perform the duties to the fullest.
However, he also gave hints to the fact that there might be a chance that Solo might be included in the line-up. This would certainly make the Canucks a formidable squad with one of the best defence at the back.
The start of the season saw the Canucks' head coach making frequent changes in the back with Aaron Rome playing quite a lot of time with men changing alongside him. Edler was the player who spent quite a lot of time with him, but an error in the back saw
the Predators coming up with an important short-hand goal.
"I played with everybody, so it's nothing really new for us," Rome said of his new partners in Game 3. "It's just a matter of getting reacquainted out there. Started the night with Andrew and they decided to make the change and played most of the rest of
the game with Alex. We're familiar with each other so we've been together most of us for two years.”
The series is very competitive and neck-to-neck at the moment in the three games for the Cancucks which have been played. The deciding factor has been a mere difference of one goal. Two out of three games that have taken place have gone into overtime.
