Arsenal’s number 8, Samir Nasri retains faith over Arsenal’s title chances, claiming that the Gunners can put an end to their title drought and go on to win the coveted Barclays Premier League this term.
The Frenchman has been in hot form of late. Netting a total of 12 goals in all competitions, the former Marseille man has been a prominent figure in the Arsenal starting lineup. His contribution so far has been vital towards the
North London club’s bid to stay in the title race heading into the Christmas period.
Scoring two individually brilliant goals against Fulham FC, Nasri and team were met with a lot of flak from the media after falling prey to their historic rivals, Manchester United. While those neutral might argue that it was an
overall disappointing encounter with the game mostly played in midfield, footballing critics all over have gone hard on Wenger’s team, calling them naïve for being unable to grind out results.
The Arsenal team is presently 2 points adrift of League leaders Manchester United who have a game in hand. However, after an effective break from football owing to heavy snowfall postponing proceedings, the Arsenal winger remains
optimistic about his club’s chances of making their mark over the fate of the title this term.
Discounting the rather informal Emirates Cup, Samir Nasri is yet to win any ‘meaningful’ silverware with the club since joining in the summer of 2008 from the French League. However, the French international is still hungry for
success and feels that his team could make it a reality:
"I think the title is definitely within our reach. For a start, United were supposed to play against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and I couldn't see them winning that. I also think their game in hand isn't a foregone conclusion because winning at Blackpool
is not easy.”
Nasri might have a point there. After playing the Gunners at home, the Red Devils were scheduled to face the Blues at Stamford Bridge – Not an easy destination to grind out a result from any stretch of the imagination.
The Arsenal number 8 further added:
"I really think we have quality and we've got the maturity now that we were lacking before. We'll see how we cope with all the matches over Christmas and we will get a clearer idea after that - but I'm full of confidence."
While these words might be music to the impatient Arsenal fans, it is perhaps best to set the matter adrift in the tides of time to be able to clearly see how serious Arsenal are of adding to their trophy cabinet post-FA Cup 2005.
