Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has been linked with a move out of the Emirates, for nearly two months now. However, it seems like the midfielder might finally be on the brink of making his long awaited exit from the team, with Manchester United looking the
likeliest of destinations.
According to numerous sources, the midfielder is set to tell Arsene Wenger that he no longer wants to be a part of the Gunners and would appreciate it, if the team would allow him to leave.
The twenty four year old midfielder currently only has one year left on his contract with the team and is set to talk to Wenger about his future by Thursday. It isn’t certain what the meeting is going to be about, but, it seems all the more likely that it’s
going to be about the midfielder’s future at the club.
One of the prime reasons for Nasri not signing an extension at the club, is because the player and the team just can’t seem to agree on a new contract. The midfielder wants to be amongst the highest paid players at the club, but the Gunners are only willing
to offer him ninety thousand pounds a week. Nasri has so far been reluctant to sign the extension and with external interest now being developed in the midfielder, he is most probably not going to bother with any negotiations at the Emirates.
Nasri has gone on to hint in the past that he wishes to compete for the Player of the Year award and in order for him to do that, he needs to be playing for a team that can help him win trophies.
Gael Clichy, who was part of the Gunners squad till last week, felt that he needed to win trophies and in order to do so, he quite the North London team and joined Manchester City instead.
The fact that Clichy went on to join City, just goes to show the faith that the players now have in the team.
It is a shame to see how far Arsenal have fallen over the course of the last few years. The team that went on to play an entire season without losing a single game, has now failed to land a single trophy, over the course of the last six years. As a result,
it seems like the players feel there is a need to change the policies at the club.
Should the team’s board fail to realize that, then the likes of Nasri and Fabregas are all but certain to be on their way out of the club.
