Samitar aiming to prevail in the Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas at Curragh
Trainer A.P. O’Brien is attempting to land the Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas as his runners dominate the line-up for the event, which is scheduled to take place at Curragh on 27th May, 2012.

Seven runners will be representing him in a field of fourteen.
Last year this event was taken by Misty For Me, which gave the renowned trainer his sixth victory in this race, and he will try his best that one of his runners notches the victory this year as well.
The daughter of Galileo, out of mare Butterfly Cove, finished ¾ of a length ahead of favourite, Together, on 22nd May, 2011.
Besides O’Brien’s picks, Samitar will also be competing in this event, being the only runner from Britain.

Trained by Mick Channon, the bay filly has been missing the mark in her recent races, but might be able to show progress in this race.
The three-year-old finished ninth in the Group 1 Poule D'Essai Des Pouliches at Longchamp on 13th May, 2012, which was disappointing but she has some impressive victories under her belt.
The daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar, out of mare Aileen´s Gift, downed the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2yo Fillies' Trophy at Newmarket on October, 2011, which she entered as a favourite with a winning shot of 5 to 4.
Under the guidance of jockey, Sam Hitchcott, she brought her full potential to the track and finished 1 ¼ lengths ahead of Hazel Lavery.
Yellow Rosebud, who is under the ownership of Dr. R.Lambe, also looks strong enough to win, as she recently delivered an incredible performance in the Derrinstown Stud 1,000 Guineas Trial on 13th May, 2012, at Leopardstown where
she was paired with jockey, P J Smullen.
The bay filly excelled in this race and broke through the wire first, 1 length ahead of, Devotion.
Ger Lyons’s charge, Lightening Pearl, has been taken out of the running for this race since she failed to deliver in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas Stakes, which was held at Newmarket on 6th May, 2012, where she finished thirteenth
among seventeen runners.
Via Twitter, the trainer stated that: “We will wait till July at York to race her again & will drop her back in trip."
This will definitely be an exciting race, but it seems that Samitar will break out of her shell and race towards victory with an unmatched pace and motivation.
