Samitar to steal the show in Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park
Almost every horseracing track in USA is due to stage plenty of mega events this Saturday, September 15th. But the focal point will be the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes, to be held at Belmont Park.
Seven high-quality runners have entered the field. Every contestant holds the ability to deliver a cracking performance, but the bettors should take a chance only on Samitar. Trained by Chad C. Brown, the 3-year-old is performing quite decently this season.
After facing a terrible loss in the Grade 1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches, the filly did not lose confidence. She unleashed her talent to secure a classy win in the Grade 1 Irish 1000 Guineas at Curragh in May.
She failed to put up an equally good show at Ascot the following month, but was not disgraced. Following a reasonable run, she managed to grab the fourth place in the Coronation Stakes.
After showing a couple of very good acts in Great Britain, the dashing filly returned to America, and continued the good work. The audience at Saratoga saw her ending up third in the Grade 2 Lake George Stakes in July. After a break of almost two months,
the Norman Court Stud-bred is returning to action with full energy.
So, it would not be foolish to expect her to steal the show today. She alongside other participants will come out in pursuit of a heavy purse worth $300,000.
Karlovy Vary is another to keep an eye on. An awful defeat in the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks dented her confidence, but the filly regained it with a fine win at Churchill Downs in June. Her latest outing was also quite impressive, as she grabbed the third place
in the Nani Rose at Saratoga in July.
Tannery is in good shape after her maiden graded success at Curragh. Showing an equally fine show at the highest level of sport will be a tough task though.
The real clash is between Karlovy Vary and Samitar. The latter is in far better rhythm, and should be preferred by the punters. We wish the best of luck to all the contenders.
