Bayern Munich’s technical director is optimistic after the side’s UEFA Champions League draw and is looking forward to start on a winning note.
The Bavarian giants have been drawn in Group F of the Champions League along with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 and Lille as the top
two teams in the group qualify for the knock-out stages.
Matthias Sammer insisted that the draw was a good one for his side. He admitted that he is relieved that the team has not been drawn in the ‘Group of Death’ like last year when the Bavarians joined Manchester City, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 and Villarreal
to form one. The Reds were successful in winning the group last time around and reached the final, only to lose at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on penalties.
Sammer is targeting to win the group at the end of the preliminary stage. He admitted that his side certainly has the edge over all the other teams involved, but warned against any complacency.
The chief stressed that Valencia cannot be taken lightly as they are one of the best teams in Spain. The former DFB technical director added that the team will be prepared for the opening fixture against the Orange next month and
are hopeful of doing well.
“It's a draw which presents medium difficulty. Our aim is clear enough: we want to make the next stage as group winners. If we turn in strong performances we'll impose ourselves on the group, but if we're in poor shape we'll have
problems. Valencia are one of the top teams in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, so we'll prepare well,” he concluded.
Bayern Munich have spent heavily this summer and have acquired the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 being the latest addition to the squad. The Spain international was brought in
for a €40 million fee after Athletic Bilbao refused to lower the buy-out clause of the midfielder. There are huge expectations from the player, who could make his debut as early as this weekend.
