The former Borussia Dortmund player has backed Mario Gomez after he was criticised by Bayern Munich president of just being good and not exceptional.
Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has come in support of Die Roten striker Mario Gomez, following attacks from the Bavarian giants chief Uli Hoeness. On 29 July, the club president lashed out at Gomez and suggested
that the forward was a good player but not very good or superb in his abilities.
FC Hollywood supremo also claimed that if the 27-year-old was a truly majestic player, then the Bavaria side would have managed to win the UEFA Champions League as they lost out two times in the finals, in a period of three years.
Sammer was not pleased with the chairperson’s comments and feels that the Germany international attacker should be given full confidence as he is usually the scapegoat after poor results from Der FCB and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
"His [Hoeness'] words are not very good to hear. We must aim to give Gomez more confidence instead,” the former East Germany international was quoted as saying in an interview.
The 44-year-old believed that even though the chief has the right and charisma over the Allianz Arena outfit, according to him, if the club needs to move forward through the transition period, there should be unity and togetherness
in the side.
"The president might have full privileges and a personality that has left its mark on our club but, as he says, if we want to make the step up from good to very good, we must be consistent throughout the organisation,” Sammer added.
The Bayern official insisted that the hit man will continue to claim a starting berth in the team as long as he consistently performs well for Die Bayern.
"Gomez will continue featuring for us, although he naturally must provide evidence of his contributions," he concluded.
The Bundesliga side have bolstered their squad and brought in more firepower to the Allianz Arena after signing proven strikers such as former player, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324 and Mario Mandzukic. The attackers have been brought in this
transfer window to provide cover along with a healthy competition of places for Bayern’s forward position.
