The Bavarian giants’ sporting director feels that the German teams’ achievement in Europe’s Premier cup competition is no reason for euphoria and that people should not look too much into it
Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has expressed that Bundesliga sides’ success in this edition of the UEFA Champions League should not be celebrated prematurely, as there is still a lot of effort needed to bring back
the prestigious trophy back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904.
All three domestic teams progressed to the round of 16 as group winners in Europe’s elite competition, and this has happened the first time in the history of the game. Therefore, the Bayern official believes that the media is paying
too much attention to the feat and said that the clubs should put their feet on the ground.
The former midfielder claimed that he is happy with the achievement but added that they have not won anything yet. He stated that the actual competition has just started now. Moreover, he suggested that he was bemused to see German
people celebrating this success as if they have won a cup.
"I am delighted for German football, but what is our claim? That we survived the first round with three German teams? Now it really begins," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The club official further added that central defender Jerome Boateng’s red card against BATE Borisov was not a good refereeing decision. The defender can now be unavailable for up to three games for Der FCB in the Champions League.
"I am surprised we celebrate that similar to things like winning the title. We expected it to happen so all is in order up to this point, but we shall be humble and consider it as normal," he added.
"It was harsh. Each morning I meet with Uefa and the referees and always hear about respect,” the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 and Borussia Dortmund central midfielder finally concluded.
Sammer said that he regularly meets UEFA officials and referees and agrees with them that there should be respect between the professionals. He criticised the sending off and termed it as unacceptable.
