Bayern Munich's sporting director believes that Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery need to play a team game.
Matthias Sammer wants his highly-rated wingers to put their team ahead of their personal goals and insists that the players need to recognise that they have to perform as a team, not as individuals. He said that both the star players
will perform better if they rely on their team-mates rather than always banking on individual brilliance.
The former DFB technical director claimed that the winning formula consists of leaders guiding their team to the perfect mix and individual play. The important team players need to guide and solidify the whole squad. They should
be held accountable for the performance of their team and lead as an example.
"What you need in a team are leaders - ideally one leader - team players and individuals. You need team players holding the whole thing together.” Sammer was quoted as saying on the club's official website.
The director guaranteed Robben of the board's backing in the aftermath of last campaign's criticism and expects him to shine this season as he is confident about the Dutch international`s capabilities. He also signalled that Bayern
Munich would not tolerate inappropriate behaviour from the fans and all the players will be safeguarded from jeers.
"I have a very, very good impression of him. He’s very alert, focused, and dynamic. Naturally, we've talked. I signalled to him that in a situation such as what happened in the last match in Munich, no Bayern Munich player is on
his own, and that we have to protect him even more. And I've also told him I'm expecting a huge amount of him this season."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 scored an impressive 19 goals in 36 games and Franck Ribery scored 16 times and provided a staggering 26 assists, but still it was not enough to win them a single trophy. This was due to the fact that they have ego
related issues in the squad. The side needs to seek the support of their team-mates and sort out their differences for the collective good of the team.
