I am not a mother, but since I am classy, I am going to give sammy the benefit of the doubt here.

Is hockey a sport of all ages? Is it appropriate for your 5 year-old daughters or sons to see players fighting it out on the ice? Depends on the child?

If you said in your head, “Hockey is never appropriate”, then answer this:

Are Looney Toons too violent when a safe, weights, or a boulder fell on Willey E. Coyote’s head? Should somebody put the Roadrunner in jail? Are kids going out there and dropping boulders on other children’s heads, because Looney Toons made them do it. What about Elmer Fudd? Carrying a rifle.. Were children running around with rifles in the 70’s pretending to be Elmer Fudd?

Thanks for your time.

  1. Yes its appropriate.Haley you and Jenni,AmyB(Where are you?), Poptarts,San Erica Orcelina,Gonchar chick and Katie were all 5 yr olds at one time and you girls aren't blood thirsty.Well most of you aren't.Now go to the football section and take a look at some of those darlings there. The problem with this country is that parents are babying their children too much.If they yell and scream, give them a spanking because this "Timeout"that their trying to do isn't working.Spend ONE 8 hr flight on a plane with a kid and you'll see a plane filled with people who want the parent to slap the screaming kid.I'm not saying abuse them but discipline.

Also a Stooges fan BTW.And the reason kids go out and rob and kill ISN'T video games so stop that would you people.

  2. Hi

Teenage boys would never use the side streets between there apt and McD's as a Gran Turismo course. Never ever ever, especially in snowy icy weather (helps makes the turns more like the game because you can drift through them.) No one would do that while intoxicated either I'm sure. Wait what year did GT come out, and what year did street racing start?

    Thank You

ps Power  Rangers was banned because it sucked donkey bongs not because of kids acting it out.

  3. So that's what started it all! Violent cartoons! ;)

  4. If you want to prevent your kids from witnessing violent actions, hockey is a very small part of where you need to get to. Can't let them watch most programs, if there's no violence that might be because it would cut into the sexual innuendo time. Definitely can't watch the news and you certainly cannot send them outside to play in my neighbourhood. You definitely cannot have them entertain themselves with video games. So you better get rid of the TV and computer all together, you just never know.

Not much left but you will have a nice fridge door full of artwork. Better keep an eye on the content of that artwork, though.

  5. i think its fine if they see it, its not like it happens every game either, fighting is apart of hockey and people can argue with that but its true and everyone knows it, as long as u let the five year old know whats going on and that both players agreed to the fight then i think they'll be fine, like whats his face said we all been five and seen hockey fights and not become bloodthirsty

  6. I wuv Elmer Fudd.

  7. Depends on the kid.  ( just as an answer to the question)

Shhhhhh. be wery, wery quiet. I'm huntin Elmers.hahahahahahaha.

Cartoons like Bugs, Roadrunner, Tom and Jerry are just that, cartoons. I take the time to explain to my 6-year old that it's not real. My son is hooked on Tom and Jerry, btw.  The fights are no more than what you see on the evening news(which is worse), or a demolition derby, or Nascar.  People who slow down to look at a car accident (rubberneckers) are no different than those who look at hockey fights.

  8. I think it's a thin line.  My kids, who were about 6 and 9 at the time, went to see college hockey, and sneaked down to stand by the glass.  Asked why the glass on the ice side was being polished during the interval they said 'someone sneezed on it', rather than 'someone had the snot knocked out of them'

I don't think hockey is all that violent these days, it's simply a contact sport.

The kids' programming is a source of frustration to me.  I love the old school cartoons, and will still stop everything to watch Tom and Jerry (and no, never have I dropped an anvil on anyone), but find the modern ones to be complete drivel.  You either let them watch Cartoon Network, and their brains turn to mush, or you let them watch Discovery Channel and they want to blow things up.  You can't win.

I remember years ago, a school near where I grew up suffered an arson attempt, on the same night as a kids' program showed an episode where the fictional school suffered an arson attempt.  Coincidence?  It boils down to parents making sure the kids know right from wrong.

  9. LOL-- I've said this before Haley, but for what its worth, here it goes again..

I grew up watching the coyote chase the roadrunner, but NEVER ONCE did I strap an Acme rocket to my a ss in an attempt to capture something..

Great analogy-- and sure , I dont want my 8 yr old being sent home every day for "dropping 'em", but it is up to us as the respectable ones to teach them there is a time and place for everything.. A sad reality-----Mom asks "Why did you do that" and dad asks "Did you kick his @**"..

If its gonna happen, its gonna happen.. And trust me-- if a kid is fixing to fight, he probably isnt trying to remember Laraques last takedown..

LMAO @ Joe-- now why did I not see this one coming--- Rocket + strap + a ss = Joe smelling blood in the water..

All this time I thought it was a really bad 'roid problem..
