Sammy regrets inconsistency - Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382, has a lot of introspection to do after, yet another defeat at the hands of an impressive English team in the One-Off T20I at Trent Bridge. The tourists had set the hosts a daunting target of 172 but the home side achieved
it with seven wickets in hand and two-balls to spare on Sunday.
Sammy was speaking in his final post-match press conference of the tour. The losing captain knew there weren’t too many highlights for him to show out of a dismal tour where, the visitors were convincingly defeated in Tests, One Day Internationals (ODIs)
and T20.
“We have just been dominated by the No.1 team in the World in all formats of the game,” admitted Sammy. “I think looking at the squad we have for the ODI and T20I match, we had a really, really strong team on paper,” the visiting captain added.
The skipper was rueful about lacking consistency during the series and considered it as the biggest loophole in their playing strategy when compared to their hosts, who displayed a consistent all-round performance.
“But you need to go out there and string together consistently good performances in the middle, and that’s what http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 have done throughout [this tour] and we haven’t,” the right-hand batsman said.
“We have got to be consistently good in all three departments: batting, bowling and fielding…We are doing some good stuff, but we are not doing it consistently for long enough,” the captain added.
Despite having some of cricket’s  most talented and exciting players in their team, the tourists had a forgettable series without scoring a single win in a series which was also marred by injuries.
The visitors’ batting lineup didn’t deliver except for a couple of occasion, while their bowling failed to trouble their opposition and make use of the English condition.
West Indies will now depart on Monday to arrive a day later in Fort Lauderdale where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 will be awaiting them for the start of the Digicel 2012 series. The series will feature two T20s, five ODIs and two Tests.
This series will commence with the first of the T20s to be played on Saturday, June 30 at Lauderhill.
