Sammy takes heart from past record at St. Vincent as Windies gear up for opening ODI against Australia – Cricket News Update
Taking heart from West Indies’ successful record at the Arnos Vale Ground of St. Vincent, the Windies skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in the opening
ODI of the five-match series here on Friday, March 16, 2012.
"So far, St. Vincent has been a very good ground for us. As a http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 team, we always get results in our favour here," said Sammy speaking to the media reporters ahead of the series opener on Friday. "For me personally, it's a happy hunting ground. The
last three games here, we won all three," he added further.
The Windies have so far played 20 One Day Internationals at Arnos Vale, winning 17 of them. They have returned victors in the last three, though all the three matches were against lowly ranked http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045. Against Australia, at this venue, the Caribbean side
has played three One Day Internationals, winning two of them.
Sammy has his hopes attached with the experienced all-rounder’s duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJ-Bravo-c1379 and Kieron Pollard. Bravo, who is returning to the national side after a gap of almost eight months, has been elevated to the vice-captaincy role for the Australia series
in the absence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/D-Ramdin-c1299 who is nursing a fractured right thumb, an injury he had sustained during the pre-series training camp.
The 28-year-old Bravo, who has not donned West Indies colours since June last year, vowed to give his all to the new-look team and make his presence felt in the side.
"We have a very young team and, as one of the senior players, I have to step in and make my presence felt," Bravo said. "The fire is still blazing in me. I will be bringing the same level of enthusiasm and commitment that I always had. That is the only way
I know how to play, by giving my all to the team," he added further.
