Samoa hammer Namibia by a huge margin of 49-12 in Rotorua - Rugby World Cup News
Samoa bagged their first victory in their maiden outing of the ongoing Rugby World Cup 2011, hammering the Namibian underdogs by a mighty difference of 49-12 in Rotorua on September 14. Samoa got started in great fashion with a wonderful try in the very first minute of the match and gave a clear message of aggression to their rivals. They scored six tries to dismantle the Namibians in the second round of the global showpiece.
Alesana Tuilagi scored a hat-trick of tries for Samoa and Tusi Pisi displayed an excellent show of controlled and well directed kicks to score 10 individual points for his team. One player each from both the sides was shown yellow cards for their foul play. Paul Williams of Samoa was the first man to leave the field for ten minutes just before the interval and later on Rohan Kitshoff joined the party as well during the 66th minute of the match.
Samoa opened its RWC campaign in the ideal way, could be deprived of a couple of good players including Tusi Pisi and Taiasina Tuifu'a, who left the field after sustaining various injuries. Pisi was looking good when he left the arena after he had added 10 valuable points to his teams’ total. Later on, Paul Williams was given the same role and he also responded in an impressive manner.
Samoa was well ahead of Namibia at the end of the first-half with a promising lead of 25-0 and maintained their pace after the break as well. Namibia opened its account very late in the match and scored its first try in the 62nd minute of the match with the help of Danie van Wyk. Theuns Kotze consoled his side with another five pointer just a couple of minutes before the final whistle and converted his own score to 12-49 with a follow up shot.
