Samollie oozing with chances for bagging the Dundalk Stadium Handicap at Dundalk on 18th April
The Dundalk Stadium Handicap will get staged at Dundalk over a mile on Wednesday, 18th April. The €4,830 purse has attracted a line-up of fourteen three-year-olds, all with considerable amount of experience. A few among the candidates are moving in for their seasonal debut today.
The most promising entry among the contestants is Samollie, Strategic Prince’s three-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Miss Sabre. Four out of his five starts were at Dundalk while two translated into victories and the other two were second scores.
His second start of the season was on 2nd February in the Play Rainbow Riches At Bluesq.Com Handicap at Wolverhampton over a mile and half a furlong. He finished seventh on the field of eight as Luctor Emergo won the race by pushing the 10/11 favourite of the race, Gabrial’s King, into the runner up’s slot.
His next start of the season was in the Rambo By Horseware Ireland 3YO Handicap on 17th February at Dundalk over seven furlongs. The three-year-old had to snatch the victory away from the reeling in rival, Dimitar, who was only at a head's difference.
The 5/2 joint favourite, Elusive In Paris, ended third behind the winner. The other joint favourite, Vassaria, finished fourth.
On 24th February, Samollie scored second in the Follow Ladbrokes On Twitter 3YO Handicap at Dundalk over a mile by compromising with the final four and a half lengths of the race. The race was won by Patrimonium who was paired up with J. Manning.
Settling third behind the winner was Choral Society while the 2/1 favourite of the race, Dimitar, parked seventh on the field of ten.
His third attempt at Dundalk derived the similar outcome as he qualified as the runner up in the Irish News Boot Room 3YO Handicap on 23rd March over a mile. Queenscliff was the 5/2 favourite winner of the race and dodged Samollie by 2 ¾ lengths.
He was entered as the 3/1 favourite in the www.Dundalkstadium.Com Handicap on 13th April over a mile and led by ¾ of a length while riding with J. Phillips. Refuse To Sell strode on for the second position and was soon followed by Beart.
He is on his way to claim the third victory at Dundalk.
