I bought a Samsung 42 in HGTV about 2 years ago...last August It went out. After calling samsung...they had a third party call me...the guy on the phone said to take a look at my tv would cost 90.....(without even taking a look at my tv he said a part would prb cost between $400-$900) and the service change would be about $275. I paid 2100 for the tv...but now the tv is worth1/2 that. Last August the tv was just over a year old....out of warranty. It makes me sick to think that a tv that expensive went out so quickly...and to fix it would cost almost as much as a new one now!!!! I have written samsung many letters (since last August), tried calling back...and they have been unresponsive. I could have been a very valuable customer. Does anyone have any advice? I don't know what to do. I don't know if I want to pay for my tv to get fix...as I could buy a new one for the price!!!! I am so frusterated!!!!

  1. IS THIS TV SET A DLP TV??

Most $250 lamps in the DLP TV sets burn out about that time and you can install it yourself , and BUY IT DIRECT from Samsung !

Why don't you look on the right side of the TV set for a TAG that has the model , serial and the VERSION number on it, then POST the information, and we can decide what is the best thing to do with it....

Does it start up? Does it display the menu? Does it have Sound, but no Picture?

These questions help to ISOLATE your problem....

  2. Im not sure what an HGTV is...but ill assume you have an HDTV ;)

Now a days with almost any electronic device, its usually cheaper to just go and buy a new one. Not only is the technology better but its most likely the most cost effective treatment.
