Hey Everyone

I have a problem and it was recommended that I come here. I have 2002 model Samsung rear projectionTV that I bought from a friend. I have had it plugged up for 5 months with no problems. The problem happened today when I got home. The picture was very warped and blurry, almost kindof like a photoshop blur effect. There are 3 wavy Red,green, and blue lines at the very top of the screen. You can see a picture of what you are watching but it is warped and the colors are all seperated. I tried Perfect Focus but it does not get above 5% I believe, I cannot tell. I cannot tell if manual focus is working either Also of note is that normally when the TV is turned on it has a little melody to it. This melody is gone now. The tv has normal sound when on, so there is no problem there. There have been a couple of instances tonight in which the screen corrected itself for about 3 seconds. My question is: is it the convergence board? If so, would it be worth it to replace myself?

  1. It could be the convergence or you've got 1 or multiple bulbs out. I suggest taking it somewhere to see how much you would be looking at to get it repaired and to see exactly what is wrong with it. I wouldn't suggest doing it yourself, because you could just make it worse (no offense, but things like that can be very testy if not done correctly).
