Question:

Samsung LCD & SKY + box picture problem.?

I have a very odd problem that I need to diagnose.

I have a SKY+ box connected to my 32" Samsung LCD, intermittantly the pcture will disapear as if the AV signal has been lost.

I have switched the connections so have tested the posibility of a SCART socket problem, I presume its not a loss of SKY signal as the screen goes blank as if there is no input signal.

I thought it might have been the TV at fault maybe a capacitor disapating or something, however the fault also appears to happen whilst recording. So on playback the fault also happens although the screen just goes black rather than the blue on normal viewing.

Since the picture is not recorded from the TV but from the SKY Box I thought I'd found the problem, however I have a video sender and conected it up recently the picture on the second TV does not seem to be effected by this fault.

any ideas please it's driving me mad.

  1. Not an engineer I'm afraid, but if the picture is OK on the second TV, then to me it seems that the problem is with the Samsung TV....but as I said, I am no expert.

  2. Suppose your TV has free digiTV ?

If so unplug Sky all together and see if the problem persist

also try watching a DVD and also see if problem persists ?

if it does, the the TV is at fault,if not the Sky box is to blame.
