Samsung Syncmaster 710n monitor -

Samsung Syncmaster 710n monitor - screen goes black for no reason. All cords connected properly. Computer works with other monitors. Switch on front of computer is on - green light on. Get floating error message "Not optimum mode. Recommended mode 1280x1024 - 60 Hz then a question mark in a box below it. Settings changed to no avail. Any suggestions?
