I want to buy a Samsung 32 inch tv, but I do not know if I should buy series 3 or 5. I know 5 is better but I do not want to spend the extra money. Is there really that big of a difference? Series 3 is 720p and 5 is 1080p. Is there really that huge of a difference?

  1. Go for the 1080. They are sooo much better. I have a samsung dlp and they are the BEST!!

  2. In practice the 1080p  is capable of producing a better picture.  The sets as displayed in the dealer's showroom are  usually  set up with component video or HDMI which are the best signals for producing a great picture.  The source is just as important.  Most display TVs are set up with an excellent high definition source.   On cable or satellite TV (DirecTV or Dish) the program source is not always the best.  On a 32 inch set you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a picture in 720p or 1080p from the same source, at anything approaching normal viewing distance.  Close up you might be able to discern a slight difference. . As screen size increases from about 40 inches and up, the difference in definition between the two becomes more apparent.
