Samsung digital cameras vs. batteries?

I purchased a brand new Samsung S730 digital cam online a few weeks ago. I put regular in energizer AA batteries and used it that night on an outing, the next day the camera powered down low, then it put new baterries in used that day it powered down again. Then I bought some Digital Duracell baterries they last atleast 4 days. My friend has the same brand camera told she had the same problem so she uses rechargeable AA Batteries and she doesn't have anymore issues. I felt better hearing that because I was hoping that my camera wasn't defected. I was told that it depends on the certain brands of cameras and they require special batteries. Is there anyone that has a Samsung digital cam and has experienced this?

  1. yeah your camera is defective. its a samsung. it was defective right out of the box. you got what u paid for. next time spend a LITTLE bit more money and youll have a much better and reliable camera...like nikon, canon, panasonic, sony......

  2. Digital cameras eat batteries like crazy, get you some rechargable ones rated at least 2000mAh(milli amp hours), the higher the better.

  3. That sounds about right for a digital camera.  The LCD screen uses a lot of power.  If you're using regular AA batteries, any rechargeable AA battery should be ok.  Double check with the manual just to be sure, but you should be alright.  The higher the mA is, the longer they'll last.  Initially, it's more to buy rechargeables, but it'll be much cheaper (and better for the environment!) to use rechargeable batteries.

If it makes you feel any better, my camera has a Li-Ion battery pack, and there are some days where I'll have to charge it up at the end of the night.  Digicams just use a lot of power!
