  1. First we need to know the source. Is it cable, sat, or DVD?

Each has it's own "native" display. If you have it hooked to HD via cable or sat, you must be sure to tell the "box" to output in 16x9. Don't forget, when you go to a non HD channel you will have bars on the side.

You must also go into the DVD players menu and tell it you have a 16x9 TV.

This will ONLY display wide screen out of the component video or HDMi outputs.

Stretching is inevitable when you are watching standard definition if you want to fill the screen.
