Samsung stand won't detach?

Question

I just bought the Samsung LN40A550 and it comes with a preattached stand. Which is nice but I want to mount it. However when I unscrew the screws on the back they don't come out and I can't remove the stand. Are the screws stripped or am I missing something on how it is supposed to detach?

its very common.  use a magnet and twist them out.  also try tilting the tv on the stand to nudge them out.
