Samsung tv and samsung dvd player not compatible?

Question

My boyfriend and I just purchased a samsung lcd flat panel tv and a samsung dvd player. However when we hooked up the dvd player to the tv it wouldnt work. Four trip to the store and many returns later we ended up having to exchange the samsung player for a sony dvd player. HOw could two produckts from the same brand not be compatible? ANy similar occurances here?

That doesn't make any sense......The only reason I could think of is if the DVD player wasn't a USA region player.  The European versions often aren't compatible with USA TVs.

This exact thing happend to me,

I heard it had something to do with its drive or whatever,

I also got a Sony, you should do some reaserch on it.
