Is kenshin style based on a real style. I know that some things are impossible but is there a simular style that uses these techniques?

  1. Most of the moves are fictitious yes. However, they do, for the most part, seem based on basic principles of kenjutsu in general. No style in particular is close to this.

  2. are you talking about trust and betrail. its based on just basic setups and sweeps. me and my brother and friend used a lot of moves from that movie

  3. Kawakami Gensai was an actual Assassin that this anime was based on.  He had his own unique style called Shiranui Ryu.

Hiten Mitsurugi is based on Batto Jutsu (as you alreadyknew).  Batto Jutsu is not a singular art.  It is like Iaijutsu (the two are often used intermixed) in that it is based on the core principal of drawing and cutting in one motion.  Certain attacks used in the show are humanly impossible.  The Ryushoshozen, or 9 headed dragon strike,is physically impossible, and soley the creation of the show.  However, the Samurai X Ova, aka Trust and Betrayal is the most accurate depiction of Batto Jutsu or Iaijutsu in the show.
