Samuel Deduno sharp as Minnesota Twins rout Cleveland Indians 7-2 – MLB Update

Minnesota Twins annihilated the Cleveland Indians 7-2 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Monday, September 10 in the finale of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Twins dominated their opponents in almost all departments of the game. Their pitching rotation in particular played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash, giving up just two runs against a powerful batting line-up.
Starting pitcher Samuel Deduno showed just what he is capable of as he allowed three hits and two runs in seven solid innings to lay the foundations of an impressive Twins’ victory.
"I was going, 'Oh, no. He's going to throw a 150-pitch no-hitter and I'm going to leave him out there,'" manager Ron Gardenhire said.
"We couldn't do anything against Deduno," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "He had a good slider and he threw it at any time in the count."
Relief pitchers Tyler Robertson and Kyle Waldrop combined to toss up two perfect innings as the Twins cruised to a comfortable victory.
"Everything was working tonight," Deduno said. "Changeup, curveball, slider. Everything was working."
"He knows he's making a good impression on the coaches and the team, and just keep playing the way he's playing, and he feels a lot of confidence he's going to be back next year," second baseman Alexi Casilla said of Deduno.
Justin Morneau provided the Twins with an excellent start as he hit a sacrifice fly to centre in the fourth inning to break the deadlock. Ben Revere also made his presence felt with an RBI single to centre in the sixth inning. Morneau drove in his second
run in the sixth to extend Twins’ lead to 3-1.
Shortstop Pedro Florimon made the most of available opportunities to extend Minnesota’s lead to 5-2. Mauer singled to centre and Ryan Doumit connected for a solo home-run to centre in the eighth to give his side an impassable 7-2 lead.
For the Indians, this baseman Lonnie Chisenhall homered to right in the seventh inning and Carlos Santana hit a sacrifice fly but the Twins were too hot to handle in their home ballpark.
