Samuel Dumoulin wins the 2012 French Cup
Samuel Dumoulin of Team Cofidis opened his 2012 winning account in style after securing a glorious overall victory at the French Cup.
The cyclist completed the 203.9 kilometre chase to Pas de Calais in a total distance of 4 hours, 59 minutes and 23 seconds and occupied the top podium position.
Kenny Robert Van Hummel of Team Vacansoleil-DCM Procycling finished second with Stephane Poulhies of Team Saur-Sojasun, Adam Blythe of Team BMC and Samuel Dumoulin of Team Cofidis securing the next three positions in the respective order.
"The crash wasn't serious but I have some nice wounds on the leg and left elbow. I did have some trouble to continue." Dumoulin tweeted after winning the race.
"Thanks to all the team's riders for putting aside their personal ambitions at every round to win the Coupe de France for the third time," he concluded.
Kevin Lalouette of Team Roubaix Lille Metropole succeeded during the first, second, third and the fourth sprints of the race while Geoffroy Lequatre of Team Bretagne-Schuller wins the fifth and the final sprint of the event.
Thomas Vaubourzeix of Team La Pomme-Marseille succeeded during all the eight climbs of the event.
Kevin Lalouette of Team Roubaix Lille Metropole achieved the top point’s classifications spot with a total number of 20 points in his back pocket.
Thomas Vaubourzeix of Team La Pomme-Marseille fell 8 points behind at the second position with Geoffroy Lequatre of Team Bretagne-Schuller, Sebastien Minard of Team Ag2r La Mondiale and Jaroslaw Marycz of Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank occupying the next three
positions.
Thomas Vaubourzeix of Team La Pomme-Marseille, Kevin Lalouette of Tram Roubaix Lille Metropole, Greg Van Avermaet of Team BMC and Jonas Jorgensen of Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank were the top four cyclists after the mountains classifications of the race.
