Samuel Dumoulin won the Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise 2012
Samuel Dumoulin had a long and a tough training session during the winter season. The cyclist was worried about the fact that he might have over-trained which could influence his performance.
The 31-year-old tested his efforts during the Grand Prix Cycliste la Marseillaise 2012, scheduled on January 29th, 2012.

Team Cofidis’ rider sprinted his way across the finish-line, leaving all his compatriots behind to
claim the top spot.
He finished the event in the fastest time of 3 hours, 39 minutes and 29 seconds to leave all his fears behind.

Marco Marcato of Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team achieved the second position, with Arthur Vichot occupying the third position.
Jeremie Galland, Davide Malacarne, Romain Hardy and Julien Guay claimed the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions, in the respective order.
Samuel told Velochrono after the victory, "Until this week, I wasn't very sure of myself, I had the feeling I lacked power. I questioned my preparation over the winter and I asked myself if I had made a mistake. In fact, I didn't take a proper break at all".
He continued, "We wanted someone in the break. I was well-protected and when the escape was caught, it was up to Yoann Bagot or Rémy di Grégorio to go up the road. I stayed focussed on a print with Jean-Eudes Demaret at my side".
The cyclist started his professional career in 2002 with Team Delatour and spent a period of two years with the team.

He stayed with Team AG2R from 2004-07 before finally joining the French squad, Cofidis in 2008.
Dumoulin has started his fifth consecutive season with Team Cofidis and has already claimed the overall victory at
Europe’s first professional race of the 2012 season.

Major wins of his career include the stage wins at the Tour de France, Dauphine Libere and the Volta a Catalunya.
Samuel won stage 5 and stage 7 of the Volta a Catalunya 2011, along with the stage each for the Etoile de Besseges and the Tour du Haut Var during the 2011 season.
After a tremendous start to his 2012 campaign, the French is now targeting the Etoile de Besseges, expected on the first of February, 2012.
