Samuel Pizzetti and Izumi Kato impress at the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup
Italy’s Samuel Pizzetti and Japan’s Izumi Kato continued to impress United Arab Emirates’ crowd with to their nerve-wrecking swims in the heats of the 2011 FINA Swimming World Cup series being staged in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from October 7-8. The
session of the World Series conducted the Men’s 400m freestyle and Women’s 200m IM heats.
Pizzetti came out full throttle and thrashed out his competitors by posting a breathtaking time of 3 minutes and 51.07 seconds to win the Men’s 400m freestyle heat. Frolov got second position with a time of 3 minutes and 53.60 seconds, while Lejdstroem settled
for third place with a mark of 3 minutes and 54.33 seconds.
Meanwhile, Pizzetti Samuel’s compatriot, Federico Colbertaldo earned fourth place honours by submitting an impressive time of 3 minutes and 59.05 seconds. United Arab Emirates’ Velimir Stjepanovic picked fifth spot with a mark of 4 minutes and 02.81 seconds.
Stefan Sorak of United Arab Emirates claimed sixth position with a time of 4 minutes and 05.19 seconds. In the meantime, Stefan Sorak’s compatriot, Adam Ingledew wound up seventh with a time of 4 minutes and 10.99 seconds. Moreover, United Arab Emirates’
Alistair Allan got eighth position with a mark of 4 minutes and 24.02 seconds. Simon Chivers settled for ninth place with a time of 4 minutes and 34.19 seconds. Finally, Kayan Bharucha of United Arab Emirates wound up tenth with a mark of 4 minutes and 35.89
seconds.
Japan’s Izumi Kato topped Women’s 200m Individual Medley heat by posting a winning time of 2 minutes and 13.47 seconds. Czech Republic’s Barbora Zavadova earned second position with a time of 2 minutes and 17.56 seconds, while Sweden’s Petra Granlund picked
third place by posting a time of 2 minutes and 19.26 seconds.
Russia’s Yulia Yefimova wound up fourth with a mark of 2 minutes and 19.48 seconds, whereas, Slovakia’s Tanja Smid settled for fifth position with an impressive time of 2 minutes and 19.52 seconds.
The sixth position went to Germany’s Caroline Ruhnau with a time of 2 minutes and 21.38 seconds, while seventh place went to Sweden’s Celine Bertrand with a mark of 2 minutes and 25.62 seconds. Singapore’s Wen Teo Jing wound up eighth in a time of 2 minutes
and 28.09 seconds, whereas, United Arab Emirates’ Aysha Berghuis picked ninth position with a mark of 2 minutes 30.71 seconds. Last, but not the least, Pakistan’s Lianna Swan earned tenth position with a time of 2 minutes and 34.17 seconds.
The crowd appreciated the efforts of all athletes, while the best players confirmed their places for the final heats.
