Samuel Pizzetti excels in Men’s 1500m freestyle heats: Day two – European LC Championships
Samuel Pizzetti of Italy excelled in the preliminary rounds of Men’s 1500m freestyle on day two of the European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Tuesday, May 22.
The 25-year-old Pizzetti stayed prominently ahead of his challengers throughout the distant freestyle event. With his astonishing efforts, he continued dictating terms to his challengers and reached the finishing end for first position.
He continued his supremacy throughout the thirty-lap event and tapped the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 15 minutes and 10.26 seconds.
His scintillating effort remained 0.80 seconds ahead of his following swimmer and his teammate, Gregorio Paltrinieri, who secured second best qualification spot of the race by submitting a time of 15 minutes and 11.06 seconds.
Third fastest qualification spot of the event was secured by Gergely Gyurta of Hungary, who remained almost four seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the finishing wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 15.01 seconds.
Paltrinieri was chased by Jan Wolfgarten of Germany, who remained 3.38 seconds slower from his former finisher and made his way into the playoff by reporting a time of 15 minutes and 18.39 seconds.
The 30-year-old Wolfgarten stayed almost two body lengths ahead of his following swimmer, Kis Gergo of Hungary, who secure fifth best qualifying position of the discipline by reporting a time of 15 minutes and 20.66 seconds.
Sixth best qualification spot of the event was obtained by Sergiy Frolov of Ukraine, who remained one body length behind and hit the wall with the timing f 15 minutes and 21.49 seconds.
Frolov was followed by Anthony Pannier of France, who secured seventh best qualification spot of the race by producing a time of 15 minutes and 24.11 seconds.
Soeren Meissner of Germany was the eighth best qualifying swimmer of the discipline as he posted a time of 15 minutes and 24.18 seconds.
In addition, these finalists will face each other in the playoff of their respective events while the championship will end on May 27 after the conclusion of all swimming events in Men and Women’s corner.
