Samuel Vargas ready to defend his win streak against Frenchman Frederic Serre – Boxing News
Samuel Vargas, the Canada welterweight champion, will defend his long win streak in a non-title bout against French proud Frederic Serre, in a 10-round bout to be held on May 12, 2012.
The duo will co-headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Adam Harris of Hennessy Sports Canada, Don MacDonald of United Promotions and Tyler Buxton of Buxton Promotions.
The Saturday night showdown will be headlined by the NABA super featherweight title bout between Logan McGuinness and Meacher Major and the ring for the event will be set up at Hershey Centre situated in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
Vargas is a surging young pugilist who has been in a total 11 bouts and is on an undefeated streak. He has collected just one draw decision in his career and has not only held the Canada welterweight gold but has also proudly grabbed the NABA Canada welterweight
gold once.
The young lad has nailed just four opponents by knockout and seriously lacks the ability to flatten an opponent by sheer knockout. Frederic, 31, has a slight upper edge over Samuel since he has more experience than him.
Frederic has been in a total 18 bouts and emerged victorious in 12. He has nailed just three opponents by knockout and therefore does not pose that much threat to Vargas. In addition, the Frenchman is on an inclining-declining trend and has collected two
lose and two win decisions in his last four bouts.
As far as the stats and technical know-how is concerned, Samuel has a clear upper hand over Frederic. Samuel is on a continuous win streak and has collected wins over pugilist of more experience than him.
Samuel has pinned names such as Ferenc Zold, Manolis Plaitis in his recent bouts whereas Serre has not grabbed a convincing or high profile win since his last two-bout extravaganza with Nicolas Guisset.
The resilience factor will count the most during the bout since the man who gets worn out or fatigued first will be the one receiving a loss. As far as the experience is concerned, there is a strong possibility that Frederic will show more resilience but
if Vargas connects some powerful body shots, this deficiency can also be overcome easily.
The night will also Denton Daley take on Frank White in a non-title eight-round bout.
