San Antonio Silver Stars use 28 points from Danielle Adams to thump Minnesota Lynx.
In the regular season finale for both teams, Danielle Adams stood up with a game high 28 points to help San Antonio Silver Stars defeat Minnesota Lynx 99-84 on Sunday night at the AT&T Center.
However, it wasn’t just Adams who had a good night for the Texans. Five other players also finished the game with double figure scores. Tangela Smith contributed 15 points and 6 assists, Danielle Robinson chipped
in with 14 while Shameka Christon, Shenise Johnson and Jia Perkins scored 13, 12 and 10 points respectively.
It wasn’t only the scoring that did the damage for San Antonio but also their overall passing which further helped their performance. The team dished out 24 assists and it was this brilliant ball movement which
Adams pointed out as the deciding factor;
“We were just moving the ball well, playing like a team,” Adams said. “(We were) just getting good shots. We played our defense, and it was just a great team effort for the win.”
From the other side, Seimone Augustus led the charge with 18 points while Monica Wright and Lindsay Whalen contributed 16 and 14 points respectively. Taj McWilliams-Franklin and Maya Moore also played well for
11 points each.
The Silver Stars really blew the game open in the first half. They committed one only turnover and shot the ball 53 % from the field on their way to a season high total of 60 points in the first 20 minutes, thus
laying down the foundation for an impressive performance and taking a 60-47 lead at the interval.
A 10-0 run to start the second half further prolonged their advantage and they never really looked in trouble after that. By the close of the stanza, San Antonio had taken a 83-66 lead and barring a major turn
of events, the last 10 minutes looked like a mere formality.
It was a formality indeed.
Capping off an already impressive performance, Johnson hit a triple to score San Antonio last points, leading them on their way to a 15 point victory.
