San Antonio Silver Stars get a reality check against Tulsa Shock – WNBA Recap
The Tulsa Shock defeated the San Antonio Silver Stars 80-70 here at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on Sunday night. 
Temeka Johnson scored a game high 18 points for Tulsa, going 5 of 7 from the field and leading the Shock to the victory. Ivory Latta added 15 points and 4 assists for Tulsa, going 5 of 9 from the field as Tulsa held on till the
end to run away with the victory.
Sophia Young added a team-high 15 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists for the Silver Stars as she led four players in double figure points.
The first quarter witnessed both teams matching each other play for play. A layup by Young put the Stars ahead 15-13, but Johnson’s jump shot tied the game at 15 for Tulsa. San Antonio then scored the next 7 points to take a 22-15
lead, but a three pointer by Riquna Williams had Tulsa trailing 20-22 at the end of the first period.
Five straight points by Latta gave Tulsa a 30-27 lead in the second period, and a three pointer by Williams increased the lead to 6.
A four point play by Shameka Christon of the Stars tied the game at 48 early in the third period. Latta scored 5 straight points near the end of the quarter to give Tulsa a 63-58 lead, and Tulsa went into the final period leading
64-58.
The Silver Stars quickly tied the game on the back of four quick points by Danielle Adams, but four straight points by Courtney Paris followed by a pull up jump shot by Latta put Tulsa ahead 76-68. San Antonio were unable to come
back into the game after that and Tulsa eventually won 80-70.
Tulsa shot 46.6 percent from the field and were an astounding 12 of 19 from the three point line. San Antonio, on the other hand, shot 39.4 percent from the field and were only 4 of 22 from the distance. The Stars had a 21-14 advantage
in assists, and both teams were almost equal in the other areas.
Roneeka Hodges added 11 points for Tulsa, where as Adams finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds for San Antonio. Becky Hammon and Jia Perkins both added 10 points for the stars, as their bench stepped up to keep them in the game.
