San Antonio Spurs, 40-8 and the best so far: How they lost their games
The San Antonio Spurs are the team to beat this season. The sizzling Spurs have been simply unstoppable this season, and at present, they lead the league with a fantastic record of 43 wins and eight losses.  The brief recaps of
the eight defeats endured by the Spurs, thus far during the current season are as under:
New Orleans Hornets: 99-90
The New Orleans Hornets were the first team to beat the San Antonio Spurs this season. Playing at the AT&T Center, the resurgent Hornets clipped down the Spurs 99-90. A huge cluster of 18,581 basketball fans witnessed an impressive
26-9 New Orleans run midway through the game, which changed a 39-34 Spurs lead to a 60-48 deficit. New Orleans never looked back after that.
Although Manu Ginobili missed 9-of- 11 three-pointers, but he still led the Spurs with 23 points, six assists and a pair of steals.
Dallas Mavericks: 103-94
The Dallas Mavericks snapped San Antonio's 12-game winning streak with a 103-94 victory at AT&T Center.
Manu Ginobili did all he could as he scored a season-high 31 points. It was Ginobili’s third-straight game in which he led the Spurs in scoring with an average of 27 points per game.
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said after the game. “Dallas did a great job tonight. As a group, they executed better than we did. I think they were a bit hungry and a bit more competitive than we were tonight. It showed up in the
fourth quarter,”  
Los Angeles Clippers: 90-85
The Los Angeles Clippers posted a dramatic upset at Staples Center with a 90-85 victory over San Antonio, a team with the best NBA record. With this win, the Clippers also snapped a tail-spin that has seen them lose 18 straight
games against the Spurs since 2006.
The Spurs guard George Hill had team-high 17 points while Manu Ginobili added 15 points in the season’s third defeat of San Antonio.
Orlando Magic: 123-101
The Orlando Magic snapped a 10-game winning streak of the San Antonio Spurs with an impressive 123-101 victory at Amway Center.
Tony Parker and rookie Gary Neal led seven Spurs with 16 points apiece.
New York Knicks: 128-115
The New York Knicks handed the San Antonio Spurs with their fifth defeat of the season, topping them by 128-115 at Madison Square Garden.
Tony Parker had a Spurs high with 26 points while DeJuan Blair contributed 17 points and eight rebounds in the defeat.
Boston Celtics: 105-103
The Boston Celtics earned a hard-fought 105-103 win over the San Antonio Spurs at TD Garden in Boston.
Manu Ginobili added team-high 24 points and eight rebounds in the defeat. Forward Tim Duncan and guard Tony Parker had 18 points each for San Antonio.
New Orleans Hornets: 96-72
The New Orleans Hornets crushed the San Antonio Spurs 96-72 at the New Orleans Arena. The win not only gave the Hornets an eight-game winning streak, it also snapped an eight-game winning streak of the Spurs.
Forward Tiago Splitter contributed 11 points while Tony Parker chipped in 10 points in the defeat.
Portland Trail Blazers:  99 – 86
The Portland Trail Blazers handed the San Antonio Spurs a 99-86, loss at Rose Garden in the presence of 20,364 basketball fans. Portland outscored the Spurs by 28-15 in the fourth quarter, which proved to be the turning point of
the game.
Manu Ginobili scored team-high 17 points while DeJuan Blair ended with 14 points and game-high 14 rebounds in the defeat.
San Antonio's big three (Ginobili, Parker, and Tim Duncan) were able to contribute just 38 points.
