San Antonio Spurs start the game with a bang; Lead Oklahoma City Thunder by six after the first quarter of Game 2
The Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder tipped off on Tuesday night at the AT&T Center.
The Spurs buoyed by their experience and superior ball movement started strongly and were holding a 28-22 lead after the first quarter.
The opening period saw the Spurs rely on most of their scoring from their 30 year old veteran point guard Tony Parker, who racked up 10 points and was also responsible for dishing out 3 assists in the frame.
The remaining four starters for the San Antonio team also got their names on the score sheets.
Tim Duncan chipped in with 3 points and Danny Green also managed to get 3 points. Kawhi Leonard came out of the blocks early to manage 5 points while Boris Diaw also chipped in with 2points.
Manu Ginobili also came off the bench to get his scoring tally kicking by driving to the basket on the last offensive possession for the Spurs in the period.
On the other hand, OKC have got most of their scoring from their best scoring option, Kevin Durant. The star forward racked up 12 points and was also responsible for rejecting 2 attempts from San Antonio. James
Harden came off the bench to do much of his scoring late in the period, racking up 6 points to his name.
Russell Westbrook failed to score much from the field and finished the quarter with only 2 points. But, he distributed the ball very well in the frame and finished it with 4 assists. Serge Ibaka also managed
to get 2 points in the quarter and had 2 blocks to go along with it.
It took the Thunder team almost three and half minutes to get started with their scoring in the game whereas the Spurs team had managed to get 6 points by that time.
San Antonio started the game very well courtesy of a 10-2 run and never looked back.
The Spurs were the better shooting side in the frame. OKC missed 14 of their 23 attempts in the quarter whereas the Spurs made 12 of their 23 attempts – an above fifty percent shooting.
