Tony Parker on fire as San Antonio Spurs lead Oklahoma City Thunder by eleven at the midway point of Game 2
After getting a great start to the game, the San Antonio Spurs continued to pile the pressure on the Oklahoma City Thunder and were able to attain a 55-44 lead at the halfway stage of Game 2 in this Western Conference Finals series.
They racked up 27 points in the second quarter and held the Thunder to same output which they had in the first quarter, 22 points.
Tony Parker continued to lead the way by getting 7 more points to his name in the second quarter alone and was also running the offence with his precision passing ability to manage 5 assists in the ball game till the midway point.
The offensive production for the Spurs continued to come from everyone - having the best bench in the league does have its benefits. Stephen Jackson came off the bench to rack up 3 points in this period and Tiago Splitter also
had the exact same output on relief.
Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard each managed to get 7 points till the break with 4 coming in the second period for ‘The Big Fundamental’ including a facial on Serge Ibaka and 2 coming from Leonard in the period.
Kevin Durant slowed down in the second with much responsibility of his lack of offence going to the way the Spurs defended him. He could only manage 2 points in the frame.
With KD silent, James Harden took the charge for the Thunder with 8 points in the quarter which took his tally to 14 points at the halfway stage. Westbrook, who had scored only 2 points in the first quarter managed to get 6 in
the second, while Derek Fisher came off the bench to knock down his first triple in the game.
Spurs were able to hold their own due to their ability to limit down their turnovers and having a very good conversion rate on their attempts at the basket. They shot the ball 58 percent in the entire first half and only had 6
turnovers by that time.
