San Antonio Spurs’ Ryan Richards takes a liking to Olympic Park in London: NBA Update
San Antonio Spurs guard Ryan Richards is feeling extremely delighted over playing at the Olympic Park in London. He is representing his country, Great Britain at the Olympic Park for an inaugural test event for the upcoming London
Olympic 2012 in London.
The British international player also made his encouraged debut in the senior Great Britain team, when he also received a very unique honour when he was declared the first ever professional basketball player from Kent Crusaders
Basketball team to play at the Olympic Park.
Ryan is representing his country in 2012 London Invitational Tournament where six other teams are also participating for a test event which will set a standard of playing facilities for next big games in London.
The 20 year-old talent, Richards played in all games for Britain in that particular tournament and especially played in final game against Australia on Sunday. This test tournament was hugely acknowledged in around the world and
especially in basketball world. Many basketball experts appreciated the London Olympic management, who is extremely concerned with every activity that will promote the Olympic Games in near future.
Apart from Olympic Park’s first test event, the San Antonio Spurs
’ recent draftee Ryan Richards was also present where he was playing for his country made headlines after he became the first Kent Crusaders player who played at Olympic Park. Ryan was also in headlines as he bluntly spoke in the
media about the venue which is not a permanent instalment. Though he was exceptionally impressed by the venue but he also showed his disappointment over the selling of this venue after the Olympic.
Ryan said with pretty confidence as this basketball playing facility is certainly very tremendous and this kind of facility should be preserved for future events. He also said as he felt great deal of self satisfaction playing
at the Olympic Park.
“Playing in the Olympics is one of my main career goals and to do it not far from where I grew up would be fantastic. I’ve spent most of my time since moving to San Antonio in rehab, getting healthy and learning about the game.
I have my friends and my mum to keep me grounded and humble. I’ll probably be coming back to Europe to start with next season to prove myself. I just want to show I have what it takes to help the Spurs win.”
Ryan Richards was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in 2010 with overall 49th in the second of 2010 National Basketball Association (NBA).
