San Antonio Spurs expect Antonio McDyess and Manu Ginobili to play in Game 4 - NBA Play-offs Update
The San Antonio Spurs are 2-1 in the best of seven National Basketball Association Play-off game series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Spurs are not only struggling in the series, but also are short-handed at the moment, as their two key players Antonio McDyess and Manu Ginobili are doubtful for Game 4 because of injuries. The Spurs are hoping that these two will recover in time and
join the squad for Game 4, which is a crucial for them since they are two down in the series.
The Spurs’ centre McDyess anticipates playing on Monday night against the Grizzlies in spite of a neck injury.
Antonio was injured in the final quarter of the Saturday night game and was immediately taken to the locker-room before Memphis took the game away from the Spurs. After the game, he was taken for X-rays, which came out negative and the initial reports suggested
that he suffered a strained neck.
Regardless of his injuries, McDyess turned up at the practice session on Sunday. He told the media people that the Spurs’ medical personnel explained the injury as a stressed nerve. However, he was happy and looking much better after having a night of rest
and medication.
When McDyess was preparing for practice, he said. "I feel a whole lot better."
Afterwards when he was inquired if he would be ready for the Monday night game, McDyess responded, "No question. Even today, I think I would be ready."
On the other hand, San Antonio guard Manu Ginobili said he still is struggling with his nagging right elbow that forced him to miss Game 1 of the first-round.
Manu injured his elbow in a loss to the Phoenix Suns. It was their final game of the regular-season and that put him out of Game 1 of the NBA post-season.
On Sunday, Ginobili said he is still dealing with the soreness in his elbow, so it is still not sure that he will take part in the Game 4 to play a full complement of minutes.
Memphis guard Tony Allen refused to believe that Ginobili's elbow injury is hurting. According to Allen, Ginobili is playing very well and that made him believe whether his injury is real or not.
It was Allen, who guarded Ginobili in Game 2 and 3 and is now raising questions over the injury to Manu.
Sunday morning, Allen commented about Ginobili, "He ain't playing like his arm is hurt. I think that's all just for the birds right there. I don't think nothing's wrong with him."
When Ginobili heard about Allen's statements, he looked bit amazed and perkily replied that in the past he has was called a flopper, but never a faker.
