San Antonio Spurs take down Orlando Magic by 106-97, for 11th consecutive win
The Spurs played an outstanding game against the Magic at the AT&T Center, San Antonio, in the presence of 17,627 buffs.
Spur’s Point guard, Tony Parker, had 24 points and 10 assists to lead the San Antonio Spurs to their 11th straight win, a 106-97 victory over the Orlando Magic. The home crowd was pleased by the incredible performance of the home team.
High–Flying Players
Manu Ginobili had 25 points 9 assists and 6 rebounds for the Spurs. Tony Parker added 24 points, 10 assists, and triple rebounds. Matt Bonner and Tim Dun scored 15 points each for the Spurs.
Orlando Magic’s Center Dwight Howard led the team with 26 points, one assist and 18 rebounds. Point guard Jameer Nelson added 15 points.
Game Story
Magic were ahead of Spurs in the first quarter of the game, Nelson accelerated the game, and Magic led the first session by 2 points, 30–28.
Spurs were back in the game by the second quarter, scored 25 points to end the first half of the game at 53–52 with a single point lead.
The third quarter of the play was again dominated by the Spurs, the lead was extended to 77–74.
The Magic committed five turnovers in the fourth quarter, and they came at the worst times.
Although, Jameer Nelson had two balls bounce off him and go out of bounds in the final two crucial minutes of the game, there was no way the Magic could come back.
Spurs almost scratched out Orlando in the final 2 1/2 minutes of the game and edged away from the Magic, defeating them at 97–106. Ginobili scored 2 points of the two free throws in the very last moment of the game.
The Magic offence was fine throughout the game, but the players were careless with the ball, letting it slip out of their hands and giving away turnovers.
Turning point of the Game
The Magic (9-4), led the game by 95-94 on Rashard Lewis' 3-pointer, but the Western Conference’s leading team, the Spurs (12-1) went on a 12-2 run to finish the game.
Shining Star of the Game
Dwight Howard was fantastic in the court, scoring 26 points with 11-of-16 shooting, and he grabbed 18 rebounds.
He scored 4 of 7, shooting free throws soundly. In addition, he had three steals and a pair of blocked shots.

"I thought it was a great basketball game that went right down to the two-minute mark. For us to win a game like that against a very good team on the road there are two things that have been regular problems for us. One is turnovers. The second thing is
we have to close down the paint and closed down the shooters. We are not doing that very well right now. They shot the ball very well, clearly", said Magic’s Coach Stan Van Gundy.
Spurs' coach Gregg Popovich was pleased with the 3–pointer contest as he said, "Both teams, for a stretch there, it was like a 3-point contest and no one was going to give in. That was incredible. It was a heck of an NBA game".
End Notes
Both of the contestants were highly offensive but Orlando has been just a little bit sloppy with the ball and fell short by 9 points in the end.
The Magic fell short of their 10th, win of the season, while on the other hand the Spurs make it 11 wins (12 – 1) in a row.
