San Antonio Spurs versus Memphis Grizzlies: NBA Play-off Game-3 Preview
The stage is set for the third play-off clash between the San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night at FedExForum, Memphis. Both teams are now even at 1-1- in the seven-match first round series. The Grizzlies have outclassed the Spurs
in the first play-off encounter with 101-98. The Spurs came back in the very next match and defeated the Grizzlies by 93-87. Manu Ginobili posted 17 points for the Spurs and guided his team to even the series first round series.
The Spurs were qualified into the play-offs, as the top side from the Western Conference with 61 wins and 21 losses in the regular season, while the Grizzlies came into the play-offs capturing the final eighth play-off spot in the same conference.
Before the first game which was played on April 17, the Grizzlies were certainly coming as the underdogs in the series, but soon they gained the early momentum in the series and stunned the top-seeded Spurs with a surprising win.
The Grizzlies have also defeated the Spurs on two occasions in the regular season out of four matches they played. The Grizzlies are looking much confident and improved team as compared to the side who took part in the 2006’s play-offs.
The Grizzlies are playing without their star player, Rudy g*y, in these play-offs, as g*y hurt his left shoulder and this injury has barred him from further playing in the season. While the Grizzlies’ Rudy is out, the rest of their roster are playing with
full thrust.
The Grizzlies most promising factor, Zach Randolph has recently extended his contract for next four years with the Grizzlies and determined to play well in the remaining matches with the Spurs. Zach Randolph has also a very good average of 23 points and
15 rebounds especially against the Spurs.
The Spurs are also gearing up for this game, as they are coming into these play-offs with extra energy and impressed many with their regular season’s performance and now eyeing on the precious NBA Championship.
The Spurs are highly relying on their guards, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. Both players have good averages and certainly will play a key role in the next game. The Spurs’ Parker is averaging 28.5 points against the Grizzlies, while Ginobili is averaging
17 points per game in this season. George Hill, Gary Neal, Tim Duncan and Richard Jefferson are also playing good for the Spurs and looking ahead to match-up the Grizzlies with an extra push.
The Grizzlies fire-power include, Zach Randolph, Tony Allen, Mike Conley, O.J. Mayo, Darrell Arthur and Marc Gasol will be producing their thrust upon the Spurs to make the Grizzlies impression more destructive in the series.
