San Antonio Spurs vs. Dallas Mavericks - - NBA Preview
The sizzling San Antonio Spurs will take on the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night at American Airlines Center.
The Spurs are leading the current-season with undefeatable 54 victories but to put up with Dallas and the dazzling Dirk Nowitzki would not be easy for them.
The 28-year-old Spurs guard Tony Parker said for the time being they have to forget about being at the top and have to work hard as they are not up to the mark now days.
After an extra-long practice session on Wednesday, Parker said, "We need to forget about (owning the league's best record) because right now we are not playing well." "If we keep playing like that it is going to be a quick exit from the playoffs.
We need to forget about our record and go back to playing good Spurs basketball."
The Mavericks have already won four consecutive regular-season games against the San Antonio. However, the Spurs are ahead of them in the Western Conference by a margin of six and a half.
San Antonio looks for a rebound from a season’s worse 110-80 loss on the road to the Miami Heat on 14 March. Miami outscored the Spurs 33-17 in the fourth quarter. Parker scored team-high 18 points in the defeat. It was the third lowest total
and fifth worse shooting affair for the Spurs during this season.
Dallas, on the other hand, is playing well now days. They snapped their two-game losing streak in the previous match, topping the Golden State Warriors 112-106 on March 16. Nowitzki scored game-high 34 points and 13 rebounds in the victory. He
posted 12 of his points in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks guard Jason Terry is very excited about their upcoming match against the Spurs, "It is tremendous. Everybody is going to talk about how it is just another game. Not for this team. Not for us." "We have struggled since the break
against teams that are right there in contention for championships. It is a measuring stick for us. How far have we come? They are playing great."
During the 2010-11 season, the Spurs are 2-1 against the Mavericks. The most interesting point is that San Antonio won both of the matches in the absence of Nowitzki and lost the one in his presence. He scored 26 points in the victory.
Nowitzki would be the point of concern for the Spurs as he is averaging 25.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and shooting nearly 53 percent from the field in his last five games of the season.
The Spurs are short of just four wins to break their previous record of 58 win in the 2006-07 season.
The San Antonio Spurs have been the team to beat this season. With about 15 games still left in the season, they are already on the cusp of eclipsing their best ever record of 58 wins of the 2006-7 season. Friday night though will be no cakewalk
as they are up against one of the best shooting team in the league, the Dallas Mavericks.
