San Antonio Spurs vs Memphis Grizzlies Game 3, series tied at 1-1: NBA play-off Preview
The San Antonio Spurs will be arriving at the FedEx Forum to take on the Memphis Grizzlies for their third meeting of the first round of the play-offs on Saturday night. The best-of-seven games series between the top team in the Western Conference and the eighth seeded Grizzlies is tied at 1-1. The match-up is expected to be a thriller as both teams look to get ahead in the series.
Grizzlies guard Tony Allen is determined to carry the action into Game 3 and said after the practice on Friday, "I like how the referees have been calling the games the last two games. They've been letting us actually go out and you know play backyard basketball. Surprised me, but I love it, so it could be a physical game again. I'm looking forward to joining in."
The Grizzlies stunned the spirited San Antonio down the stretch in Game 1 when they surged with a series of layups, three-pointers and free throws to wrap up a thrilling 101-98 road victory. The prolific Zach Randolph was truly impressive with the ball and notched up a game-high 25 points with 14 boards to spearhead Memphis to pull off a win.
The Spurs bounced back convincingly in Game 2 and outshined the resurgent Grizzlies on Wednesday’s face off by restricting the invincible Randolph to 11 points only. Both the games depicted great retaliation from each team which gives an idea of how intense the upcoming matchups are going to be.
The Grizzlies line-up will be determined to seal another win in front of their home crowd. Even though the Grizzlies will be using the advantage of their home-court, they will be opposing a squad that stands among the teams which carry the best away record in the league. The Spurs are all geared up to jump into the fray on Saturday night.
The All-Star Tony Parker said on the upcoming meeting, "It's going to be a great game with a lot of intensity. It's going to be very physical, and they play very well at home. It's going to be a great challenge for us."
Parker is looking forward to shoot better this time at the FedEx Forum to counter resolutely against the Grizzlies aggressive play. The 28-year-old point guard said that Memphis play a very physical game and we have to penetrate the free throw line and be aggressive as they will give away fouls.
The contest will be very exciting for sure as both the teams are determined to do their best. Marc Gasol and Randolph will be the key players for the Grizzlies as they have the potential to influence the outcome at any point of the game. Conversely, the Spurs will be eying their star power Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili and they need to defend the sharp-shooter Zach from taking the charge.
