San Carlo Honda Gresini Team to participate in season finale at Valencia – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini team boss, Fausto Gresini has decided to take part in the race weekend at Valencia.
It will be MotoGP season’s final round followed by a post-race test session.
The Spanish race weekend will take place on November 4-6, 2011. The team will not only attend the round but also race in the memory of Marco Simoncelli.
Gresini said, “The decision to participate was not an easy one, but we have made this choice as it is what Marco would have wanted.”
The owner also said that Simoncelli will be remembered by his teammates Hiroshi Aoyama, Michele Pirro and Yuki Takahashi.
The team riders will try to pay tribute to Simoncelli with their best performances on the race day at Valencia.
Gresini added, “Going out on track at Valencia is definitely the best way to honour him by doing what he most loved to do: Ride and experience the world of MotoGP. This is why I believe that the best show of affection that we can make to Marco is by lining
up our teams and riders for this race.”
Super Sic liked to race in MotoGP and always collected praise and criticism after each weekend in the 2011 season.
He had a little hard time with Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha and Dani Pedrosa of Honda in his premier-class racing career.
A few unpleasant moments put both Spaniards in a hard talk with the Italian. The most obnoxious incident in 2011 was when Simoncelli struck Pedrosa while passing him. The hit ended up with a fractured collarbone for Pedrosa.
Following the series of incident Super Sic managed to improve himself. His progress was shown when he took third place on the podium at Brno and second place at Phillip Island.
With his improved pace and strong determination, he aimed to take his first MotoGP career win at the Sepang International Circuit.
Having good practice time from winter testing at Sepang, he was sure to take podium finish, but an unfortunate accident left him dead.
During the second lap of the Malaysian GP, he had a low side fall. He managed to hang on the bike, while veering into the path of Colin Edwards of Yamaha Tech3 team and Valentino Rossi of Ducati.
The collision caused the fatal injuries on the head, back and ribcage area of the Italian, leaving him dead on the track.
