San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Hiroshi Aoyama needs to revive at Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini team rider Hiroshi Aoyama is looking to revive his confidence at the tenth MotoGP event, the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix, California.
His fitness problems since his Assen Grand Prix crash are still hampering his performing on the track.
Aoyama said, “I was still struggling a lot at Sachsenring with my injuries from Assen and even though I tried my best to come away with a positive result, it was very difficult for me to get a feeling for the bike.”
The Japanese rider was feeling pain and lack of strength. He was injured after he crashed at Assen while riding for the Repsol Honda team. He had been called as a substitute for the injured Dani Pedrosa.
Still after being in pain, he made a good effort throughout the German race weekend. Though he qualified as the last Honda rider on the grid but in the race he outperformed fellow satellite Honda rider, Toni Elias from the LCR Honda team.
However, since the Dutch TT Assen GP, he has been continuously struggling to get back his feel aboard his satellite Honda RCV. Aoyama has suffered a lot in the last two events at Mugello and Sachsenring.
Aoyama further said, “I am sorry to the team for that, and I hope to be able to make it up to them in the next race at Laguna Seca. This will be my first time at this circuit so it won't be an easy weekend for me, but I will be pushing hard to get on the
pace as soon as possible.”
Most of his time is spent to regain the confidence with his Honda Gresini RC212V. After riding a factory RC212V, he has been facing some issues with his machine at the Gresini garage.
Aoyama’s main goal at the American Grand Prix is to get aboard his RCV with renewed confidence and find a better way to manage his pain.
In the 2010 Red Bull GP, he was ruled out due an injury, which gives him no experience of the Laguna Seca circuit in premier class. He will be recalling his 250cc race days at Laguna Seca to prepare for the upcoming event in US.
