San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Hiroshi Aoyama regains confidence at Laguna Seca – MotoGP news
San Carlo Honda Gresini team rider Hiroshi Aoyama has started to regain confidence aboard his satellite Honda RC212V.
Aoyama finished tenth in the US Grand Prix after suffering from poor health conditions that he suffered since his crash at Assen.
Aoyama said, “Starting from 14th place is never easy so I had to make a few passes before I could get into my true rhythm. I am partly satisfied to have finished tenth but it was a tough race because I am still not physically fit.”
The Japanese rider was not feeling perfectly fit for the race weekend, still he struggled to practice and keep himself in momentum for the race preparations. He was able to qualify for 14th position on the starting grid. Aoyama has suffered from
pain since he crashed at Assen during the qualifying practice session. He was riding for Repsol Honda as a substitute for the injured Dani Pedrosa.
Since his crash, he has been lagging confidence aboard his team RCV with added difficulty of his unfit status. In the following races from the Assen event, he has been aiming to recover his confidence and step up to place himself in top ten slots.
Aoyama said, “My intention was to make it to the end and I am happy I did that because this was my first race here at Laguna. Now we have a short break and I hope I can come back stronger in the next race at Brno, ready to fight for a good result.”
Though the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is tricky and tough on riders’ physical abilities, but gradually, Aoyama was able to gain confidence to complete his race. The Japanese rider claimed that he is not content with a tenth position but finishing a tough
race is also an achievement in itself, especially in a debut race at the venue. In the 2010 season, he was not able to compete at Laguna Seca.
Aoyama is presently placed at the 10th position in the 2011 MotoGP world championship table two positions down from his Italian teammate, Marco Simoncelli. Now the team riders will head to Brno, Czech Republic for the next round of the 2011 MotoGP
season after a three-week summer break.
